# Why Work Locally?

We have all become knowledge workers. Whether we produce craft cider, build an online product, organise physical events, or make physical products, we work with information and decisions. The quality and speed of those decisions matter.

Chat AI improved speed. We could type a question and receive an answer almost instantly. It works well with general knowledge, creative work, and reasoning.

The problem appears when the work depends on your particular context. A model does not automatically know your customers, earlier decisions, unfinished questions, or way of judging good work. People compensate by repeatedly copying information into a chat.

That friction reveals the problem: the AI is not working where you work. You are assisting it before it can assist you.

A local agent can work with the files and knowledge already on your computer. Instead of rebuilding the context for every conversation, you can give that context a place where both you and the agent can return to it.
