# A Note Is a Page Worth Keeping
A Note is one piece of understanding written down.
It might hold a question, a decision, an observation, a plan, or a story. It does not need to be polished or profound. It only needs to be useful beyond the moment in which it was written.
## People and agents can share it
A conversation can fade from attention when it ends. A Note remains where someone else can find it — including you, weeks later.
A person can read the words. An agent can read the same words. Neither needs a translation made especially for them. That makes a Note a small piece of common ground.
## The page carries its own shape
A title says what the Note is about. A short description helps a newcomer decide whether to read further. Headings divide the thought into parts. Links point toward the ground beneath it.
The words carry the meaning. The shape helps people and agents find that meaning without reading everything at once.
## Underneath, it is an ordinary file
A Note is a Markdown file: plain text with a few simple marks for titles, lists, emphasis, and links.

You can open it in an ordinary text editor. You can send it to someone. You can move it between tools. No single app has to remain available for the Note to stay readable.

## A Note can grow

One page is often enough. Stop there when it is.

When the page needs supporting pages, it can become the opening page of a folder. The original thought remains at the entrance; the new pages answer, “What do you mean?”

That gives us the next idea: **a folder is a home for related Notes.**
