Knowledge Keeps Moving
A capture says, “This is where our understanding stands now.” It does not say, “This can never change.”
We often talk about knowledge as something we have. Learn it, write it down, and keep it. Real understanding does not stay still. We use it to make a decision. The decision meets the world. Something works, fails, or surprises us. We return with new questions and update what we understand. Knowledge is not only the state we captured. It is the process that keeps moving through those states.
A capture is a snapshot
A Note gives understanding a form. A capture marks the moment when that form became worth remembering.
The capture matters because it gives the next conversation somewhere to begin. But it is not a final answer. It is a dated position: clear enough to use, open enough to revise.
The history between captures is part of the knowledge. “We believed this, then we saw that, so now we understand it differently” is often more useful than the latest sentence alone.
Agents make the loop faster
Before agents, updating shared understanding took extra work. Someone had to notice the change, rewrite the document, find the right place, and bring it back into the next decision. Most learning stayed in conversations or in people's heads.
An agent can help capture understanding while it forms and bring the relevant Notes back when they are needed. That shortens the distance between learning something and updating what the space remembers.
More frequent updates do not make the knowledge less trustworthy. They make its movement visible — as long as each capture remains conscious and the history is kept.
Reflection turns experience into understanding
Reflection means stopping long enough to ask whether the space still matches what we have learned.
You might ask:
“What have we learned since we wrote this?”
“Does this still match how we make decisions?”
“What changed, and which Notes should change with it?”
“Update our understanding, but show me the change before capturing it.”
The agent compares the current understanding with new experience, surfaces what no longer fits, and proposes an update. You decide what the space should now remember.
Understanding belongs in the decision
Captured knowledge becomes useful when it returns to the work.
Before a decision, the agent can bring forward the relevant Notes, earlier choices, and unresolved questions. The decision then starts from the frontier instead of reconstructing the past. Afterward, the decision and its reasons can become the next capture.
Later outcomes feed back into the same process. The space does not merely archive decisions. It helps make them, learn from them, and make the next one better.
The loop
Explore and discuss → Capture and reference
We explore and discuss to move our understanding forward. We capture where it lands. Later, the agent references that capture when a related question or decision appears, so the next exploration begins from what we already understand.
Then the loop turns again. Each capture is a state. Knowledge is the movement through them.
