# How Working with an Agent Changes the Flow

In the past, you could rely heavily on your own skill and knowledge. You learned, practised, and became better at doing the work yourself.

With an agent, part of the work changes. The agent can help with things you can describe clearly, but it needs access to the knowledge and judgment behind them. The better your world is mapped, the better the agent can assist you.

Your workflow therefore includes capturing what you know and carving paths through it.

## Mapping means making knowledge explicit

Imagine that you work in sales. You know which customers are a good fit, but that understanding may live only in your head.

You can make it explicit by describing your ideal customer profiles. An agent can also help analyse your actual customer list and propose richer profiles for you to review. Those profiles can then guide messages, research, and decisions.

The same is true of quality. If you want an agent to help write a good message, capture what makes a message good in your work. Then improve that guidance when experience shows that it is incomplete.

Mapping is not creating a perfect model of everything you know. Start with the piece of understanding the current work needs. Capture it, use it, and let the next question show you what to map next.
